Friday: more cloud, cooler temperatures on the Islands

Friday brings a slight shift in the weather pattern across the Canary Islands, with more cloud cover and a noticeable drop in temperatures. Low clouds will gain altitude throughout the day, rising from around 900 metres to between 1,100 and 1,200 metres. Expect these to be thickest during the early and late hours, particularly on the northern slopes of the highest islands.

General conditions

Temperatures continue to fall, with the most significant drops in the mid-altitude zones and summits, as well as inland areas of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Maximums will range between 23°C and 32°C. Winds will blow from the north-northeast, light to moderate, with stronger gusts on the eastern and western ends of the higher islands and in the interior and southern parts of Lanzarote during the afternoon. On the summits, a light to moderate northwest wind will prevail, stronger around El Teide during the first half of the day.

The Atlantic will be mostly calm, with slightly choppy ocean conditions on southern coasts and rough ocean elsewhere. Wave heights will be between 1 and 1.5 metres.
