Monday: steady trade winds and a calm Atlantic

Start of the week: steady and calm

Monday brings a stable weather picture across the Canary Islands, with the trade winds firmly in control. Expect variable cloud cover in the north of the mountainous islands, clearing up around midday. Temperatures remain fairly steady, with highs ranging from 22°C to 29°C. The Atlantic is mostly calm, with some rough ocean conditions on exposed northern coasts.

General conditions: winds, skies, and the Ocean

Skies will be mostly clear or partly cloudy with some high clouds across most of the archipelago. In the north of the mountainous islands (below 700–900 metres), expect scattered clouds that will thin out by midday. Light trade winds are forecast, turning moderate and occasionally strong on the southeast and northwest slopes of the larger islands, where local very strong gusts are possible in the afternoon. On the highest peaks, winds will be light and from the west.

As for the Atlantic, expect rough ocean conditions on northern exposed coasts, with waves around one metre. Southern, more sheltered coasts will see slightly choppy ocean conditions.
