Tuesday: high clouds return with the trade winds
Tuesday brings a mix of high cloud and local afternoon clouds across the Canary Islands. Temperatures remain steady, with coastal highs between 20ºC and 25ºC. The trade winds return: light from the north in the west, moderate from the north-east in the east, strengthening through the afternoon.
General conditions
Variable high cloud will blanket most of the archipelago, with local afternoon clouds forming beneath them. Winds are light from the north on the western islands and moderate from the north-east in the east, picking up generally in the afternoon. Strong gusts are likely on the eastern and western tips of Gran Canaria. On Tenerife’s central peaks, the wind will blow moderate from the south-west, with strong intervals.
On the ocean, an ocean swell from the north-west will affect northern and western coasts of the western islands, as well as Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, where waves could reach 2 metres. Southern coasts are more sheltered, with calm ocean conditions.

Tenerife
Low cloud on the north and south coasts will thicken in the afternoon, with a slight chance of a stray drop. Elsewhere, high cloud. A light north breeze, turning north-east late. On the peaks, a moderate south-west wind. Temperatures in Santa Cruz: 16ºC to 23ºC.
Gran Canaria
High cloud cover with local afternoon clouds forming in the north, east, and south during the midday hours. Moderate trade winds, strengthening in the east-south-east and west. Las Palmas will see between 17ºC and 22ºC.
Lanzarote
High cloud cover with some low cloud forming inland around midday. Moderate north-east wind, picking up in the evening. Arrecife: 16ºC to 23ºC.
Fuerteventura
Mainly high cloud cover, with local afternoon clouds forming inland at midday. Moderate north-east wind. Coastal highs between 21ºC and 24ºC.
La Palma
Mostly clear skies in the morning, clouding over around midday, especially in the north and east. Light north wind. The capital will see temperatures from 15ºC to 21ºC.
La Gomera
Cloudy intervals in the morning, more abundant inland. High cloud arrives in the afternoon. Light north wind. Coastal highs between 20ºC and 24ºC.
El Hierro
High cloud intervals with local afternoon clouds forming inland. Light north wind. Pleasant temperatures.
La Graciosa
Mainly high cloud cover, with some low cloud in the west. Moderate trade winds. Caleta de Sebo: 17ºC to 23ºC.
