Unsettled Sunday as Therese Lingers
The low-pressure system Therese continues to influence the weather across the Canary Islands this Sunday, 22 March. It will bring bands of instability, generating locally heavy showers, particularly on western and southern slopes. Strong winds, which will gradually ease, and a rough Ocean are also in the forecast.
General Outlook
Cloudy skies will dominate, turning overcast in the southwest of the more mountainous islands. Showers are likely, becoming locally heavy and persistent over mid-altitude areas on those slopes. Elsewhere, expect scattered clouds with occasional rain, which could still be heavy at times. Temperatures remain typical for the season. A moderate southwesterly wind will blow, with strong intervals and possible very strong gusts on northwest and southeast slopes and mountain peaks overnight, before losing force.
At sea, a southwesterly wind of force 7 is forecast. A combined west or northwest swell will bring waves that could reach up to 3 metres.
